Spring is here! We are open in Old Tappan every day from 9am to 6pm. Stop by and visit our brand new farmstand and greenhouse, and meet our friendly, helpful staff who will assist you in creating the garden of your dreams!

Our fields and greenhouses are providing us with fresh green and purple asparagus, lettuce, Swiss chard, wasabi arugula, mustard greens, tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, and more! Put healthy, local food on the table tonight for your family.

The Binaghi family has been welcoming friends to our farmstand for over 50 years. We hope you’ll become a friend as well.

Spring Planting with Farmer Ron

Stokes Farm welcomed over 35 kids and their parents to our spring planting program, held on April 14 and 21st. Farmer Ron talked about the history of the farm, gave a tour of the greenhouse and Garden Center, and then helped the children plant marigolds. Everyone had a great time!

Keep an eye out for more family friendly programs at the farm this summer!

You Can Do It

We’re so excited to announce that this Thursday, July 19th, we’ll have a special guest with us at the River Vale Farmers Market!  Jenny Lichtenwalner, owner of Charlie Thyme, will be at our booth to talk to our customers about how to preserve their favorite Stokes Farm produce with canning.  Jenny will be conducting mini-demos and will be available to answer questions about canning.  Stop by to chat and pick up a couple of canning recipes.  We hope you can join us for this fun afternoon- the weather will be cooler and you can visit all of the great vendors at the River Vale market.

Jenny will also be at the Old Tappan Public Library on Thursday, August 2nd to present a more in-depth canning presentation.  And keep an eye out for more information on a fall canning program to be held at the farm!

Hydroponic Lettuce

We’ve been busy this winter- ordering supplies, attending trade shows and conferences, and taking time to visit with the grandchildren.  But we’ve had one really big job- building a new greenhouse, where we’re growing hydroponic lettuce.  Grown in water, with no soil at all, these tiny little plants are well on their way to being harvested and sold at all of our retail locations in New Jersey and NYC.  We can’t wait to have you try our butterhead and red butterhead lettuce this summer!
